Marvel’s Spider-Man (Playstation 4)

Developer: Insomniac
Publisher: SEIA

Release Date: 2018

The Spider-Man games in video games have generally been more good than bad, but Marvel’s Spider-Man is set to be the best graphical Spider-Man experience ever. All the trailers have been very action-packed with great graphics that cannot be ignored. Spider-Man 2 is one of my favorite games of all-time, primarily because of the freedom you are given in the game and the web swinging mechanics are very well done. My main concern is whether there will be an open world, and most importantly, whether the web swinging will be fluid. The announcement of Marvel’s Spider-Man was completely unexpected, but this has a chance, if done right, to be an absolutely amazing game if this is simply ‘a Spider-Man 2′ with better graphics.

Marvel’s Spider-Man is currently a Playstation 4 exclusive, which I completely forgot about when compiling my Most Anticipated of 2018 list, but I was reminded that this is a game that would nudge me or maybe that random Spider-Man fan to purchase a Playstation 4. When 2018 releases are discussed, this game is generally overlooked because I think gamers are afraid of this being a letdown. I don’t think building another great Spider-Man game is that far away, as the sandbox formula has proven to be successful in both Spider-Man 2 and Batman: Arkham City, but QTE really scares gamers when they see it taking over trailers, like in Marvel Spider-Man‘s E3 2017 trailer. I am cautiously optimistic, and hope it reaches its expectations.
