Andre Calvert’s Top 3 E3 2019 New Game Announcements
1. Watchdogs Legion
Watchdogs Legion is a game that was announced during the Ubisoft conference at E3 2019 that really shocked me. I didn’t play Watchdogs or Watchdogs 2, but this one has a much different feel. I was totally sold on the idea that I can hack into and play as many different kinds of characters with different skills, including an old lady. The game also features permadeath, forcing the player to switch to a different character they’ve unlocked (hacked into). This was definitely the biggest surprise for me at E3 2019 because I had completely written off this franchise due to what has been said about it by others. Watchdogs Legion is definitely a potential hit in 2020 if the depth is as deep as advertised for this game.

2. 12 Minutes
Although there are many new games that I liked at E3 2019, I always get drawn to this conceptual type of games that make me proud to play indie games. Twelve Minutes puts the player in a time loop that a player has to get out of involving a wife being accused of murder. The trailer is extremely compelling with voice acting and graphics that draws me right into wanting to know more about it and play it.

3. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics was shown during the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct and I was surprised to learn that this is coming to all platforms. The game is based on an upcoming Jim Henson Netflix series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. This is an odd genre for an entertainment tie-in to be, but a genre I feel we need more of. My level of interest for this game is purely based on the genre, as the series hasn’t been released yet on Netflix, although I will check that out. I love tactics and strategy games and hope this is good enough to at least be fulfilling and challenging.
