Indie Game Discovery Roundup 017
Week of August 27, 2018
The Indie Game Discovery Roundup is a list of indie games just announced, upcoming. very recently released, or hidden gems that caught our eye that we would like you to know about.
Bossgard, Molecats, Megaquarium, Swords and Soldiers 2 Shawarmageddon, Good Company
Bossgard
Bossgard is a game that recently caught my attention that I feel could have some legs. This appears to be like an indie game that captures the feeling of a Monster Hunter type experience when fighting a big boss, but on a much smaller arcade-y scale. With different locations and classes to play. Bossgard looks like it might have fun replay value. Players can even fight their friends as the boss! This is schedule for release in 2018, so don’t forget it, as this is set to release on all major platforms.
You can wishlist it on Steam here.
Release Date: 2018 (PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One, Switch)
Molecats
Molecats is a game I recently discovered that I find intriguing. The game contains the puzzle element of rotating level blocks to guide Molecats through caves, while trying to avoid obstacles and traps. This seems like a puzzle game that can be accessible to anyone, and the graphics are also pretty good. Molecats leaves Steam Early Access August 28, 2018, so definitely take a look at it if you’re into puzzle games.
You can wishlist it on Steam here.
Release Date: August 28, 2018 (PC)
Megaquarium
Megaquarium, an aquarium tycoon game, is a game I recently discovered. I don’t know if a game like this is already out there for aquariums, but now it is! The tycoon genre seems to be on an uptick recently, and this game actually looks pretty good. It has a relaxing look to it, as you add different types of fish to your aquarium, while also handling the business of guests. This is looks like it could be a sleeper hit if everything works right. Don’t forget about Megaquarium when it releases on September 13, 2018.
You can wishlist it on Steam here.
Release Date: September 13, 2018 (PC)
Swords and Soldiers 2: Shawarmageddon
Swords and Soliders 2: Shawarmageddon is the sequel to Swords and Soldiers, which came out in 2010. This is a 2D RTS game franchise that I somehow overlooked the past eight years, but here we are. This game boasts online multiplayer matchmaking, leaderboards, and an extensive single player campaign to keep you busy with plenty of content. Ronimo Games, the developer, also develops Awesomenauts, so that is a good indication that the multiplayer experience will be pretty good. I look forward to this release, as I am a fan of RTS games. Don’t forget to wishlist Swords and Soldiers 2, as it is set for release Fall 2018.
You can wishlist it on Steam here.
Release Date: Fall 2018 (PC, Playstation 4, Switch)
Good Company
Good Company is another game I recently discovered that appears to be another tycoon type of game where you build robots and high-tech goods from a garage and expand your work space. Chasing Carrots, the developer, appears to be going for a very deep approach with this game to provide many management options. Good Company is set for release later in 2018, and I can’t wait to see what the finished product will be because it appears like it will be very different than your standard tycoon. I hope I am correct. Don’t forget to wishlist Good Company for when it releases, as it could be a hidden gem.
You can wishlist it on Steam here.
Release Date: Late 2018 (PC) UPDATE: Entering Steam Early Access on March 31, 2020
