Louis Hughes’ Direct Opinion: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct

Developer: Nintendo

Platforms: Switch

It’s been awhile since Nintendo presented a regular Direct. That streak looks to continue as they take the opportunity to present a Nintendo Direct for the upcoming Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The presentation features Tom Nook explaining the three-part plan of Nook. Inc’s Getaway. Part One is a refresher course of what to expect on our stay. Part Two goes into detail about new features, and the Third Part answers questions about the game. The second and third part is what got me interested.

The new features that were explained that got me excited is how customizable the island can be. From creating bridges and sidewalks among others, makes sure you’ll be spending a lot of time on the island. While this has me excited, and then some, there are some bumps in the road.

One feature is that the game will not support cloud saves or system transfer which is a disadvantage, since I’ll be getting a Switch Lite in the near future as my travel Switch while the main Switch stays home. The other one I find amusing is how the game will have updates for upcoming holidays. It’s funny because I’m sure Nintendo is worried some live streamer will spoil what the game does for all the holidays. It’s a known fact that some people would change the date on their console clock to get exclusive holiday perks.

Despite this, I’m still looking forward to taking a vacation to a deserted island that doesn’t involve surviving.
