Louis Hughes’ Most Anticipated Games of 2018
Dragon Ball FighterZ (Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC)
Developer: Arc System Works
Publisher: Bandai Namco Entertainment
Release Date: January 26, 2018
During the 2017 E3 Microsoft Press conference, a games montage was shown to show off Japanese games coming to the platform and Dragon Ball FighterZ caught my eye. Recently, I haven’t been a huge fan of the Dragon Ball Z fighters since they went full 3D with the fighting mechanic. Imagine my reaction to seeing this game is not only going back to the 2D fighting style, but adding 2 on 2 with an assist fighter. Having the game designed by Arc System Works (BlazBlu & Guilty Gear franchises) means this will be a deep fighting game with strategies, parries, to keep fighting game enthusiasts busy. With fighting games not being the attractions they once were, except for gaming tournaments, this will be a welcome addition. Not since Mortal Kombat (2011) have I been hyped for a fighting game not named Super Smash Bros.
