Andre Calvert of GameReviewPad gives his thoughts on the Death Stranding Launch Trailer:
Although we have a glimpse of the story about connecting worlds together, a lot about the game still remains a mystery. but the visuals are as stunning as in every trailer. This trailer doesn’t really change my opinion about the game because there was nothing substantial about the trailer showing gameplay, with exception to what appeared to be maybe a boss fight or big enemy. I have my doubts about Death Stranding, as for the past few years the gameplay has been stranded in another universe and curiously kept away from our gamer eyes. Death Stranding has been an incredibly hyped game over the past few years, surpassing even mega games like Red Dead Redemption 2, which is why this not living up to expectations is a high probability. Even good games can fall short of expectations, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad game either.
I really look forward to seeing the reception of Death Stranding, as I am still undecided about purchasing this game because Kojima has done a very poor job of putting the gameplay front and center. For the integrity of video game journalism, I hope this cinematic experience is held to the same standard as David Cage games if it’s warranted.
I really hope this is good, but highly skeptical.
