GameReviewPad gives their thoughts on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle Reveal Trailer.

Andre Calvert says:

As someone growing up in the 1990’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was part of my television viewing rotation, so when I clicked on the trailer for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle hearing that theme was music to my ears. Having the rights to the actual theme song is always a plus for nostalgic games like this. The game itself has an old school type of look and gamplay style (beat-em up), reminiscent of a game like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time.

Although this game is published by Bandai Namco and not Activision, I’m extremely cautious with my expectations for this game because this is being released in January 2017, ahead of the new Power Rangers due to in theaters in March 2017. I got burned by Activision with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan because I gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was developed by Platinum Games. Mutants in Manhattan was also released ahead of a movie. Movie tie-in video games and games clearly made for movie promotion continue to not have a very good track record, so this will be a clear “wait and see” for me. All that being said, I’m glad that this is being made anyway because we are long overdue for a new Power Rangers game. As Rita would say, “Magic wand, make this movie tie-in game a success!”
