Trailer Impressions: Paper Mario: The Origami King – Announcement Trailer

It seems that the rumors of no Nintendo Direct for the now cancelled E3 is true as this trailer dropped from nowhere. Not only is this a new Paper Mario (as the rumors stated), but the game is coming out in a few months.

The trailer shows off everyone being turned into Origami in this paper universe of the Mushroom Kingdom. What’s new is that it seems Princess Peach is the enemy, or is she being controlled? Not to mention, it’s implied that you will be allied with Bowser and his minions. This is something that wasn’t done since Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

Like all Paper Mario games, this looks beautiful with the bright colors and the look of everything in paper style. While the battle mechanics were briefly shown, it looks like from the trailer that it’s going to use a ring-like system. While Paper Mario: Color Splash’s battle system wasn’t to my liking, I grew to appreciate it.
