GameReviewPad gives their thoughts on the Super Smash Bros. coming to Nintendo Switch trailer.

Louis Hughes says:

Nintendo recently held another Nintendo Direct. While I feel there may be one more before E3 (too many), it was a mixed bag. The moment that surprised some is the Direct ending off with an announcement trailer for Super Smash Bros. coming to the Nintendo Switch this year. I liked that the trailer started off with the same trailer from the Splatoon announcement for Wii U, only to get the surprise reveal. While that got a huge surprise, people are now wondering if this will be a new entry in the popular franchise or just an updated port from the Wii U version.

Back when Splatoon was announced for the Switch, I thought it would be no more than an updated port, only for the game to be announced as a full fledged sequel which caught me by surprise. Not to long after the announcement, Sakurai confirmed that the game was been in development not to long after the final DLC was released on the Wii U/3DS. That would make it four years, and seeing how no gameplay was shown and that we see Mario and Link shadowed out in his Breath of the Wild attire, makes me feel like this will be a new game instead of a Wii U port. Hopefully, more will be revealed at E3, as all signs points to this being the holiday title for 2018.

UPDATE: Not too long after I wrote my thoughts on the trailer, Nintendo announced that pre-E3 they will hold an invitation tournament for Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Bros. for Switch. This news confirms that not only will the game be fully playable at E3, but it’ll look more certain that this will be Nintendo’s holiday title for the year.
