Trailer Impressions: FOX n FORESTS Teaser 2018

FOX n FORESTS is a game where this trailer sold me 100% that it can be a sleeper hit. A 16-bit platformer starring a fox that scratches your Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo nostalgia itch is exactly what this is. I can’t go on without mentioning that a lot of games featuring a fox as the main character have been announced recently. FOX n FORESTS has a unique game mechanic showcased in this trailer, where you can switch between four different seasons, and the goal in the game is to unveil the mystery the fifth season.

The other interesting thing that’s just on a conceptual point of view is that the fox wields a magic crossbow. Crossbows are like the forgotten child of range weapons, hardly ever getting that video game shine! But here we are, a 16-bit style game that will unfortunately take unfair criticism for graphics and have to make up for it in gameplay, which based on the trailer, I think they will. There is always the concern in 16-bit style games that the controls may not be fluid, but based off of the trailer the controls look good. FOX n FORESTS could easily be overlooked due to the style, but the trailer should make you at least check it out without dismissing it outright.
