Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Review (3DS)

Capcom does it again with their extremely popular series Monster Hunter! The addition of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate does not disappoint with additions of new weapons, monsters, and story elements. Capcom’s ability to produce these sequels and not lose any quality whatsoever still amazes me. Being one of the several games in the franchise, it loses nothing that the previous game brought to the table. This new addition to the Monster Hunter franchise isn’t a letdown, even if it’s only limited to the Nintendo 3DS.

Battlefield Hardline Review (Xbox One)

EA’s Battlefield Hardline introduces a fresh spin on the behemoth genre that is first-person shooters. Using the same engine from Battlefield 4 gives Battlefield Hardline a great jumping off point, but also includes some limitations. With the game being made by the Dynasty Warriors team, the feelings were mixed by fans, but when the game was released it was met with mostly praise. Will using Link’s Master Sword in a fast paced game prove to be the difference maker, or will you “listen” to your inner self and wait for the next true Zelda game?

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse Review (Wii U)

One of the more overlooked titles on the Wii U, Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is a part of the new platforming indie craze. Shovel Knight, Shantae, Axium Verge, and many others are a part of the new retro gaming craze trying to bring back the metroidvania/platforming style of play. Shantae was one of the frontrunners seeing its return after eight years of dormancy with the DS title, Risky’s Revenge, meeting critical acclaim. WayForward Technology garnered much needed praise with its return to classic platforming splendor and proceeded to create the sequel Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse. After it was launched, its ability to make use of its retro platforming roots and perfect them only excelled it to the forefront of the Wii U library with its release in the end of 2014.
