Saints Row IV Review (Xbox 360)

Saints Row IV Boxart

On April Fools of 2012, Volition stated that the next game to tie people over till Saints Row IV would be an expansion pack called “Enter the Dominatrix” which involves an alien invasion. This was one April Fools gag that most people could see happening and it did for a while.

After cancelling the expansion by including elements into Saints Row IV some fans feel that the game has lost the tone of Saints Row 2 to appease the mainstream, while others feel this is a good move after seeing how crazy Saints Row 3 got. Could Saints Row IV bring back fans of the first two games, or just stick with the over the top game design?

Grand Theft Auto V Single-Player Review (PS3)

The Grand Theft Auto series has been one of the most beloved, and simultaneously reviled, franchises in video game history. The latest entry, Grand Theft Auto V, is pretty good. It plays with the formula a bit, but it won’t convert anyone who has been put off by the series in the past. On the other hand, if you’ve ever liked an open world action game, you should probably pick this up.

The Wonderful 101 Review (Wii U)

Many things have brought me joy throughout my life, some falling by the wayside with the forward march of time and age, others even having run their course entirely by this point. I can count at least two things, however, whose appeal has endured mostly uninterrupted since my introduction to them: video games and super sentai (well, in the form of Power Rangers at first). Pokémon X & Y Review (3DS)

Pokemon Y Cover

I’ve been a fan of the Pokémon franchise since all but the beginning. It was the overwhelming hype behind Pokémon Red and Blue that led me to rebuy a Game Boy after selling my original in a fit of youthful indiscretion, and since then the games have only sunk their claws into me further with each successive release. Like so many others, I’ve watched the series grow – or should I say evolve? – from a sloppily coded but promising underdog to the powerhouse franchise it is today, some small sensation of kinship accompanying it. That said, I found myself considerably disappointed with Pokémon X and Y.

South Park: The Stick of Truth Review (PS3)

Making video games off of franchises from other forms of entertainment has always been a difficult task. More often than not, games made to promote movies or tie in with televisions shows end up receiving a bad rap. This bad press can be blamed on many factors, be it the game is rushed, or lacking passion, or the material just doesn’t lend itself to the video game format. Whatever the reason may be, the end result is that many beloved franchises end up having a bad name within the game community, and the fans of said property end up disappointed, and left for wanting. This is where South Park: The Stick of Truth comes in to play.
