Indie Game Discovery Roundup 048

The Indie Game Discovery Roundup is a list of indie games just announced, upcoming, very recently released, or hidden gems that caught my eye that I would like for you to know about.

VirtuaVerse, Resolutiion, Nimbatus – The Space Drone Constructor, Reky, Before We Leave

VirtuaVerse

VirtuaVerse, developed by Theta Division,  is a game that finds itself on my roundup because it instantly grabbed my attention with its graphics, soundtrack, and overall presentation of the game. Set in a cyberpunk world, Nathan has to go searching for his girlfriend Jay, as she ends up missing and Nathan finds himself having to deal with hardware graveyards, digital archeology, tribes of cryptoshamans, and virtual reality debauchery. I am personally not a huge fan of the point & click genre, but if I were to play one it would be something like this. The pixel-art is incredible and the animation does very well to show the story in the trailer, with the soundtrack as a good background for the genre of the game. If you are a cyberpunk fan or point & click gamer, then definitely give VirtuaVerse a look.

Resolutiion

Resolutiion, developed by Monolith of Minds, is another one of those games that grabs your interest with the trailer alone. This is a beautiful game made with pixel graphics set in a cyberpunk world. What immediately jumps out to me is the combat, movement, and mixture of colors within the graphics that keeps me interested in Resolutiion. As you escort an AI, you have to engage in combat, solve puzzles, and explore the world of the Infinite Empire. The soundtrack of Resolutiion is also catchy and fits with the cyberpunk theme it presents. Resolutiion is definitely a game you should look more into if you are like action-adventure games, as I look forward to eventually playing it myself.

Nimbatus – The Space Drone Constructor

Nimbatus – The Space Drone Constructor, developed by Stray Fawn Studio, may be the most one of the most interesting concepts of a game for someone that likes building things. In this game you get to build, program, and battle with drones you create in singleplayer  and also against other players. The game does appear to be complex, but it does seem so cool to program your own drone with weapons of your own choice and might be worth the time investment. There are very few games with this type of concept out there, so if this is your genre you should take a look at Nimbatus – The Space Drone Constructor.

Reky

Reky, developed by beyondthosehills, is a puzzle game with an appealing aesthetic, but more importantly a game that at least appears to be accessible. Reky is a puzzle game where you have to move along a path and shift things around to create paths forward to your goal. I haven’t played Reky yet, but the game does seem deceptively easy in the trailer, so don’t be fueled. This is on Android besides Steam, and with this kind of presentation maybe that is the better platform for this. There are 96 levels, so I am going to assume that is plenty to keep you busy! Don’t overlook Reky if you are seeking a puzzle game.

Before We Leave

Before We Leave, developed by Balancing Monkey Games, is a game that instantly caught my attention the first time I saw the trailer. The idea of building on a circular world was just something that I found to be the coolest concept of a civilization building game. What makes this game work is that the graphics are done very well in 3D to make every tile of the world mean something significant, whether it be buildings, trees, or water. As you create your own society you can also expand to other planets and create your own solar system of planets. Before We Leave released on the Epic Games Store, so you may have missed it, but it’s definitely a game to check out if this is your thing.
