SuperMarioWorld2YoshisIslandSNESChristmas of 1995 was the holiday I needed after what I went through that can resemble a storm. I broke the norm of asking for one game as a gift, instead asking for two; Yoshi’s Island and Killer Instinct. Normally my parents would say no, but because of an event that happened to me they let this be the exception, as long I make good grades on my report card.

Christmas morning was always my favorite day as kid, since we go to my grandparent’s house and all the relatives are there. I would bring my SNES, while my cousin brought his Genesis, but this morning would be different… While I got Yoshi’s Island and Killer Instinct, my cousin got the PlayStation with Ridge Racer.

Playing Yoshi’s Island with its visuals and sounds made me happy I chose the SNES. I may be the only person who doesn’t find baby Mario’s cry annoying. When my cousins were done ogling at the PlayStation, we played Killer Instinct. Yoshi’s Island is one of my favorites because the awesome visuals helped me cope with the darkness I had that year. Also, it’s the only game I 100% completed, because back then I had a lot of time.
