GameReviewPad gives their thoughts on the Yooka-Laylee Gamescom 2016 Trailer.

Louis Hughes says:

As people were having second thoughts on the fate of Mighty No. 9, another game was ‘kickstarted’ that grabbed my attention. Yooka-Laylee is a game designed by Playtonic Games, key former members of Rare in its heyday. It’s a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, when 3D platformers were the rage in the Nintendo 64’s life cycle. This trailer showcases all the elements of what made them stand out. From impressive visuals, collecting items, teamwork gameplay, and clever innuendo. This game shows that the team hasn’t lost their touch after all these years.

With the Nintendo Switch on the horizon, crowdfunded games are quietly cancelling the Wii U version of their projects, sighting the system as a lost cause. Playtonic Games however, feel that since people backed the game to have it on that platform, they don’t want to abandon them. To me, that shows they care about their audience and want to assure them that their money will be well spent. With constant updates and impressive rewards for backers, this game looks to prove that not all crowdfunded games are in vain. Because of this, I’m holding off on buying the Nintendo Switch as Yooka-Laylee will be my swan song to the Wii U.
